That horrific moment when you suddenly realize the baby is being really, really quiet.... And then Alfred Hitchcock music starts playing in the background.

I'm at a point right now where I just need a little positive reinforcement in my day-to-day parenting. I'm exhausted, always a step (or two, or seventeen) behind, lazy, forgetful, talk a big game but can't dish it out, etc. I'm also doing the best I can. This is also frustrating because in my heart of hearts I want that "best" to be far better! Maybe it can, but for now I'm focusing on the journey! My goal is to take a picture every day of some moment from my day that reminds me that I am a good mom. I mean this both sincerely and sarcastically - yes, really, because both perspectives help! Some days I look down at my sweet little baby curled up in my arms, sighing contentedly, and I think, "I am an awesome mom." And some days I walk into the room where one of my sweet darlings has scattered 12 lbs. of dry beans across the dining room because I either thought 12 lbs. of dry beans would make a suitable toy or else because I forgot to put them away. (Can't remember which.) And I think, "I am an awesome mom."

Since the joy is in the journey, I hereby launch my memoir of being an awesome mom!
